Continuous Centrifugal Dehydrators are centrifugals with a filtering basket. They assure the separation, the drying and eventually the continuous washing of a solid phase suspended into a liquid phase.
They are recomended for:
- centrifugal drying of mineral wellcrystallised products.
- centrifugal drying of organical synthesis products.
- centrifugal drying of fibrous products
- drying of crystals of size larger than 75 microns
Special types for:
- operation in dangerous atmospheres
- high and low pressure
- high and low temperature
- sterile atmosphere
Construction:
- in mild steel, stainless steel or special alloys
- truncated conical basket rotating at high speed, equipped with a filtering medium adapted to the
handled product
- screw conveyor rotating at a speed different from that of the basket
- external casing to collect the dried product the mother liquors and the wash liquors
- slurry feed pipe
- rotating gear box with oil bath controlling the relative speed between basket and srew conveyor
- safety device preventing overloading of the rotating gear
- wash pipe
- seal permitting operation in dangerous atmosphere
- outlet for the wash liquor
- outlet for the filtrate
- outlet for dry product
Operation:
- the slurry to be treated (on the sketch) is fed through feed pipe D.
- under the centrifugal effect, the solid product (on the sketch) is thrown against the innner wall of
the basket
- it is then continuously discharged by the screw conveyor B through outlet K.
- the filtrate liquid (on the sketch) is continuously discharged through outlet J
- the wash pipe G permits the inlet of a liquid to wash the treated product during centrifugation and
before discharge
